The Taylors Falls United Methodist Church was organized in 1859, constructed in 1861, and is the oldest continuously used Methodist church in Minnesota. The church was built at a cost of $2,500 on land donated by W.H.C. and Mary Jane Folsom and is on the National Register of Historic Places; a Taylors Falls Heritage Preservation site and one of 38 buildings in the Angel Hill Historic District.

The church was constructed of White pine in Greek Revival style. The early settlers from New England built it to remind them of "back home." The exterior, the pews, and interior woodwork have changed very little since 1861. Major restoration work, including interior painting, restoring of antique chandeliers, the south hand-blown glass window, and exterior fence were completed in 1984 for the 125th anniversary celebration. The other six windows were restored with hand-blown glass over the next serval years.

Through the years of 2002-09, extensive repairs were undertaken including painting the exterior and re-roofing, remodeling of the kitchen, and renovation of the sanctuary. In keeping with the traditional decor, the chancel area and communion rail were extended, a new valance and dossal curtain added, new sound system and air conditioning installed, attic insulated, and the sanctuary repainted and carpeted. The church now has a handicap-accessible entrance. The seven stained-glass panels, crafted in the 1950's, are now displayed on the sanctuary windows. The organ at the back of the church is the original one, and a list of those who purchased pews to pay building costs in framed on the back wall of the church.

In 2009, the congregation of Taylors Falls United Methodist Church celebrated their Sesquicentennial (150 years).

Since the early circuit riders in the 1850's, this church has had a continuous presence in the St. Croix River Valley. It has an active outreach ministry to this community, and has become a favorite for weddings, welcomes tourists visiting to this scenic area, appeared in the 1999 movie, "Here on Earth," by 20th Century Fox, and hosts ecumenical Advent Choral Vespers.
